A Knitter's Heaven

Yesterday I was out of town (Jackson, MS) but before leaving I did a little research on yarn shops and I found The Knit Studio. When I walked in this wonderful store it was like a dream, wall-to-wall yarn!!! They had pretty much EVERYTHING! I did not know where to start first, so I just jumped in... It is the cutest little shop, she had tons and tons of yarn and she even had knitting sessions where you can go to the store and just knit away! These are some of my yummy finds..

I wish you could feel them they are soooo soft!! I cannot wait to make something with all of them!
Needless to say, after spending an hour in the store it has inspired me to open my own knitting store one day...I hope sooner rather than later! :)

Project # 1 Complete!!

The other night I finished my first knitted baby bib! I was so excited to actually have a finished project! Now that I have finished something I feel like "I can" do this!! So without further ado here it is:

I LOVE IT! It makes me so proud :)
For this bib I used sz 6 needles, Peaches & Creme Seamist yarn, and 3/4" wooden button.

Now I am on to make a "girl" one!!

Stockinette Stitch

So I have been trying to master the basic knitting stitches and this is my drink coaster in stockinette stitch!

Harmony Wood Needles = Awesomeness

After my first initial attempts at knitting several years ago with metal and bamboo needles, I was determined this time that it was the needles and not me that was the problem! So I began cruising the internet in search of the perfect knitting needle, several days later I found them! Harmony Wood Needles, these are the best needles and I will tell you why I love them. Of course, the color is what first catches your eye. The laminated birch gives the needles a strength that is not found in the normal wooden needles. This strength also gives the smaller size needles more added durability and resistance to breakage which is great! So are you ready for the big reveal?....

Knit One, Purl Two

Several Christmas' ago my aunt gave me some knitting needles, a ball of pink yarn, and a beginners knitting book. At first I was excited, mainly because the yarn was pink and well let's be honest, what is there not to love about something pink! I had never knitted anything before but I was willing to give it a whirl. I attempted a few tries of casting on and knitting a few rows (not pretty rows I might add) and quickly was ready to set that hobby aside and never touch it again.
There is one thing to understand about me and the women in my family, they are all VERY crafty. Needless to say, I should have loved the thought of knitting and all that it entails, but I did not...at first.
Several weeks ago it hit me (the knitting bug, that is). I'm not sure what triggered the desire to pick up those needles and yarn but at this point I'm glad it did. I am now head over heels for knitting! I have bought several balls of yarn and some awesome needles and begun my journey into the knitting world. I haven't finished a project yet, but I have started a couple and I can't wait to actually have something to show off :)
